Police investigating suspicious package at a synagogue in Surfside

Police are investigating a suspicious package at Young Israel of Bal Harbour, a synagogue in Surfside.

Update: The “all clear” was given shortly before noon Friday, according to police.

The orthodox synagogue is at 9580 Abbott Ave. It serves the communities of Bal Harbour, Bay Harbour, Surfside and Indian Creek, according to its website.

Helicopter video taken by TV news outlets show officers outside the synagogue Friday morning. Crime tape is blocking off a portion of the area.

It’s still unclear if the package was found inside or outside the building.

This bulletin will be updated once more information becomes available.
