Police investigating a suspicious package in Miami that has shut down streets

Miami police are investigating what they are calling a suspicious package in the area of North Miami Avenue and First Avenue.

Officers issued the warning on Twitter around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, about an hour after getting a call about a suspicious package, said Officer Kiara Delva. Police are asking the public to steer clear of the area. The roads are closed.

“We have our bomb squad on the scene, our special investigations detectives and fire rescue on standby as well,” Delva said.

The investigation is ongoing.
