Three children die in a house fire near Miami International Airport, police say

Three of four children found in a house on fire late Monday morning died Monday afternoon, Miami police said.

Miami Fire Rescue said firefighters got to a smoky house in the 3600 block of Northwest 18th Terrace, the Grapeland Heights area next to Melreese Golf Course and a half-mile from the edge of Miami International Airport, around 11:25 a.m. Inside, they found four children, ages 1 to 12, unresponsive.

Fire rescue workers began employing CPR on two of the four kids, all of whom eventually were taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Two women and a firefighter were treated for smoke inhalation.

The fire is under investigation by Miami Fire Rescue, the state Fire Marshal and Miami police.
