UPS worker accused of hiding boxes with tablets inside, then coming back to steal them

Offloading over 5,000 packages, a UPS worker thought no one would notice if he slipped a few aside as an early holiday present for himself. Unfortunately for him, his holiday heist ended quickly, police said.

Emmanuel Reggin Jr., 18, is a seasonal UPS employee. On Monday, he was helping a driver unload packages at various places. As they unloaded about 5,500 packages at Nektova, 512 NE 190th Ter., Reggin came up with a plan.

Emmanuel Reggin Jr., an 18-year-old seasonal UPS employee, was arrested by Miami-Dade police for stealing three packages he had offloaded from a UPS truck.

While unloading the truck, he grabbed one box that had two Kindles inside and placed it under a dumpster outside the company, Miami-Dade police said. He then grabbed two other boxes, one with an iPad 7 and the other a Surface Pro, and put them under another dumpster nearby.

Later that evening, Reggin came back and was seen on surveillance video taking the three boxes he had stashed away, police said . The items he stole tallied up to $1,707.98, police said.

The next day, Reggin was back at the same business helping unload about 2,500 packages. He again grabbed three boxes and put them under nearby dumpsters, according to police. The boxes contained two PS4s and a HP laptop. The item totaled $1,049.97.

A manager at Nektova was told that there was a package under one of the dumpsters. When they checked the surveillance video they saw Reggin stashing the boxes, police said.

Reggin was pulled over by offiicers a few blocks away from the business after they had seen the surveillance video. Inside of his trunk officers found the two Kindles. Police say Reggin confessed to taking boxes. The iPad 7 and Surface Pro were found in his home.

Reggin was charged with grand theft and was taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
