Want free coffee? Here’s how to get it on Florida’s Turnpike this Thanksgiving weekend

Planning to take a road trip for Thanksgiving?

Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise is tempting drivers to take a “safety break” by offering free coffee at Shell convenience stores and lobbies at the Turkey Lake, Canoe Creek, Fort Drum, Fort Pierce and West Palm Beach rest stops during peak travel times. The coffee is meant to “promote driver safety,” Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise said in a news release.

The coffee will be available from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday and 11 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.

Free coffee is only one of several enhanced services being provided during heavy travel times for the turnpike.

The State Farm Safety Patrol, which assists with accidents, dangerous debris and stranded motorists, will provide around-the-clock coverage in urban areas throughout the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. There will be extended hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. north and south of Orlando and on other Florida’s Turnpike System limited access highways.
