2 charged with murder over botched Miami robbery
Two men were charged with murder Thursday for a 2013 Christmas week robbery attempt that went wrong and ended in the death of their friend.
According to Miami police, three men — Daniel Williams, 19, Joe Dawson, 21, and Malik Carroll, 18 — approached a disabled war veteran sitting on a porch on Dec. 28 and tried to steal his gold chain.
They failed. But in the scuffle, Carroll was shot. He died a few days later. Police never said who shot Carroll, but they charged his two friends with murder.
Under Florida law if anyone dies during the commission of a crime, the perpetrators can be charged.
