Drive-by shooting leaves one dead in Opa-locka, cops say

One person was killed in a drive-by shooting Thursday afternoon in Opa-locka, police said.

According to Miami-Dade police, there were two male victims who had not been identified — one whom was shot dead, while the other was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

The shooter was still being sought and there was no identifying information on any suspects, police said.

After Opa-locka police responded to reports of shots fired and found a man dead, Miami-Dade police’s homicide unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

Miami-Dade police spokesman Lee Cowart said the gunfire happened two blocks east of North Regional Park near the intersection of Jann Avenue and Bagdad Avenue, which is just northwest of Opa-locka United Methodist Church.
No more information was available Thursday evening.
