A man who threatened to jump from a Jackson Memorial Hospital parking garage for about four hours Friday afternoon let emergency crews get him to safety.
The scene drew onlookers before the unidentified man gave himself up. He will be committed for psychiatric care, according to Miami-Dade County police.
He stood on the Park Plaza East Garage from about 2 p.m. to about 6 p.m. Officers spoke to him at length while police on the street directed traffic and pedestrians.
The public hospital is a county-owned facility in the city of Miami. Hospital operations were not affected by the incident.
