A garbage truck hits and kills a pedestrian in a Miami neighborhood.
A pedestrian was hit and killed by a private garbage truck Saturday morning, Miami police said.
Officer Michael Vega said Jesus Fernandez Llada, 81, was hit while walking in the Flagami neighborhood of Northwest 58th Avenue and West Flagler Street around 8:08 a.m.
When police and fire rescue arrived, Fernandez Llada was in critical condition. He later died.
The garbage truck driver remained on the scene and was not cited because officers determined Fernandez Llada was at fault.
Traffic homicide units closed Flagler between 57th Avenue and 58th Court for several hours to investigate.
