Capsized boat found in Biscayne National Park. Crews search for possible victims.
The Coast Guard and Biscayne National Park Service searched the waters near Caesar’s Creek in Biscayne National Park Wednesday after another mariner spotted a capsized boat and called it in.
According to the Coast Guard, a good Samaritan reported the overturned 20-foot vessel just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A Coast Guard Station Miami 45-foot Response Boat and a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter began searching for the boat.
Also helping: A Coast Guard Marine Safety Security Team Miami 25-foot Response Boat and a Biscayne National Park Service diver.
Crews found a floating, empty flare box and the diver found fishing gear, a cooler and a fresh chum bag underneath the vessel, according to the Coast Guard.
As of Wednesday evening, no one had been located.
