Truck unrecognizable after wreck on Krome Avenue

A horrific single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Krome Avenue sent one person to the hospital and left a truck unrecognizable after Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units and a trauma surgeon had to extricate the driver.

The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Southwest 272 Street and Krome Avenue.

According to Miami-Dade Fire, the driver was trapped inside. Pictures show a heap of mangled metal and an exposed seat.

“It took an extended amount of time and many resources including Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Technical Rescue Team and a trauma surgeon from the trauma center to extricate the patient from the vehicle,” said Erika Benitez, a spokeswoman for the department.

The unidentified person was airlifted to trauma center at Jackson South Medical Center.
