A single-car crash led to a fiery scene in Wynwood Sunday afternoon when a light pole toppled onto two parked cars, police say.
The driver of the car, identified Monday as 45-year-old David King, did not survive.
The accident happened before 4 p.m. Sunday at 150 NW 21 St. The surrounding area was shut down for the investigation.
According to police, the driver of the car lost control and hit the pole. It was not immediately clear what caused the man in his 40s to crash.
Michael Vega, a Miami police spokesman, said the live wires fell on two unoccupied cars and caught fire. The man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he died.
In total, police say more than 10 cars were damaged.
No one else was injured in the accident.
