For a while, they were doomed.
Several ducklings had fallen into a dark and scary storm drain — with no hope of survival. Their chirps echoed in the eerie tunnel.
But then, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived, and hope returned. Fire fighters in hardhats gracefully climbed down and rescued the distressed birds.
One by one, the tiny ducks were pulled from the dark abyss and placed on the ground. In a video, their mother — who stood a few yards away — can be seen welcoming her waddling babies.
"When the crew arrived, they located the drain and immediately began to pull the ducklings out," fire officials said in a statement. "The ducklings were assessed for any injuries and then reunited with their mama duck."
The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. Saturday near 7354 SW 105th Pl.
No duckling was left behind.
