Teen who crashed car into Miami Gardens home charged
The teen whose joyride came to a halt when the car he was driving slammed into a Miami Gardens home is facing charges.
On Thursday, the 14-year-old was charged with reckless driving, not having a driver’s license and not wearing a seatbelt when he slammed a black Nissan Altima into a home at 3950 NW 207th Road on Tuesday.
The 14-year-old was released from the hospital Wednesday.
The home, which is owned by 57-year-old Dorothy Gibson, had to be condemned, according to Gibson’s brother.
Gibson didn’t get hurt but was hit with something. Her daughter, released from the hospital Tuesday evening, sustained a head injury and had to get stitches.
The 14-year-old was not taken into custody. The traffic citations have been issued with a notice to appear on Tuesday.
Investigators said he was behind the wheel of his mother’s car which he took.
