What does your mayor make? It could be $187,000 — and it could be $0
Does your mayor make a lot of money?
That depends on the city and the role.
While some mayors of the county’s municipalities work for a buck a year, others get big bucks.
What mayors make was revealed in a recent report by the Miami-Dade County Ethics Commission based on information collected between 2016 and 2017 from requests for public records to the cities and the county.
Here is who makes what:
Miami-Dade County: Population 2,456,378
Annual salary: $150,000. This amount was reduced, the previous mayor earned $ 324,000.
Additional payments: $64,710 for retirement.
Miami-Dade County has a strong mayor system.
Salaries of mayors of cities with more than 90,000 people
Miami: Population 453,579
Annual salary: $97,000.
Additional payments: $19,400 for a retirement account.
Salary of the city manager: previously it was $ 231,402 but recently it increased to $ 265,000.
Hialeah: Population 236,387
Annual salary: $150,000.
Additional payments: $40,000 for other expenses.
Hialeah has a strong mayor system (mayor and city administrator at the same time).

Additional payments: city credit cards, share with the commissioners “promotions and donations” expenses with a budget of $120,860 for fiscal year 2018.
