Trucks get caught in powerlines, shutting down major intersection
A major Northwest Miami-Dade intersection was shut down just before rush hour Wednesday after a tree-trimming truck and 18-wheeler got caught up in power lines, leaving a stoplight precariously hanging in the middle of the roadway.
According to police, a tree-trimming truck hit the lines around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 119th Street and 27th Avenue. A tractor trailer behind it didn't see the downed lines and also got tangled.
Both stopped and waited for help, police said.
Meanwhile, the entire intersection had to be shut down because of the “destruction,” Miami-Dade police spokesman Argemis Colome said.
