One person was killed and another seriously injured after a race between motorcyclists ended in a multi-vehicle crash on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in West Miami-Dade as the two bikers were racing east on Southwest Eighth Street at about 1:45 p.m. The two racers crashed into each other just past Southwest 122nd Avenue and then into two cars.
They were both thrown from their motorcycles when they hit the other vehicles.
One cyclist died on the road and the other rider’s arm was ripped from his body. The injured rider was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to FHP spokesman Joe Sanchez.

Sanchez said the agency is waiting to notify family members before identifying the cyclist who died.
