Pickup truck bursts into flames in Miami school bus crash
A pickup truck burst into flames Wednesday morning after crashing against a Miami-Dade County school bus in Little Haiti.
Miami Fire Rescue arrived around 9 a.m. at the intersection of North Miami Avenue and 60th Terrace and extinguished the burning vehicle. The truck had been traveling north on Miami Avenue when it hit the side of a school bus.
Just before firefighters arrived, the driver of the truck was pulled out by a bystander. The school bus, with a driver, three children from Jose Diego Middle School and a bus attendant inside, moved away from the flames.
The pickup truck driver, a 34-year-old male, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, said Capt. Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue.
The kids, bus driver and bus attendant were examined for minor injuries at the scene and then taken to school in another bus.
Miami police and Miami-Dade County Schools police are investigating the crash.
