Teen shot in leg at Allapattah park

An 18-year-old girl was shot in the leg Wednesday afternoon as she stood in the parking lot of a popular Allapattah park, according to Miami police.

The teen, identified as Meagan Hernandez, was standing in the parking lot area near the pool at Curtis Park, 2300 NW North River Dr., at about 4 p.m. when she was shot.

She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition, according to Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Fallat.

Fallat said the motive was not clear Wednesday night.

“Fortunately other children enjoying the park were not hurt,” Fallat said. “We know people may have seen something and we need their cooperation.”
