South Florida drivers will have to adjust to more traffic pattern changes on State Road 826 starting at 6 a.m. Sunday.
All southbound lanes on 826, also known as the Palmetto Expressway, will be shifted to the right side of the expressway after the Northwest 25th Street exit. The exit from southbound 826 to westbound State Road 836, the Dolphin Expressway, will be moved a half mile south from its current location. Drivers should watch for road signs.
The shift is only the latest major milestone in the $560 million project to overhaul the massive interchange linking 836 with 826, partly funded by federal stimulus money. The construction project, which began in 2009, is expected to be finished in the first three months of 2016.
To accommodate the impending traffic changes, many closures will be scheduled over the weekend. Among the changes:

▪ The Northwest 25th Street entrance ramp to southbound 826, as well as the southbound 826 ramp to eastbound 836, will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday.
▪ The southbound 826 exit ramp to West Flagler Street will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday.
▪ All of the southbound 826 travel lanes will be closed at the Northwest 25th Street exit ramp from 11 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday. Drivers will have to exit at 25th Street and go west to Northwest 87th Avenue.
