Cruz said detectives had no leads as of Tuesday night and were trying to determine whether the children were targeted.
“We need the community to come forward,” he said.
The shooting happened about two hours after two 16-year-olds were shot at Northwest 20th Avenue and 19th Terrace in Allapattah. One 16-year-old died.
No further details were released Tuesday night.
Cruz said it was not clear if the shootings were related.
