A man was shot to death Saturday morning outside of a Miami restaurant.
Miami police said Leonardo Perera, 34, was shot in the face outside of the Nuevo Patio Restaurant Lounge at 1861 NW 22nd St.
“According to detectives, Perera was involved in an altercation with a group of males at the corner of Northwest 19th Avenue and 22nd Street,” polie spokesman Rene Pimentel said.
Perera tried running back to his home, a few blocks away, but collapsed two blocks from the lounge, near residences in the 1900 block of Northwest 23rd Street.
Alice Coley said she heard several shots and called for help.
“It was like six, six or seven shots,” said the grandmother who’s lived in the area for 13 years. “When we got out there, we heard the shooting, and then my daughter went to the door and we seen the guy laying on the ground. And we called the ambulance and stuff and the police came.”
Perera was taken to Jackson Memorial’s Ryder Trauma Center but did not survive.
Investigators have no motive and no description of the shooter.
