The fire consumed the abandoned home in the 1110 block of Northeast 165th Street in North Miami Beach at about 2:30 a.m. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
It was not clear what started the fire or why the man was inside, according to Miami-Dade Fire spokesman Arnold Piedrahita Jr. He the said the home appeared to be abandoned. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Daniel Pizzaro, a neighbor, told Miami Herald news partner CBS4 that he saw, “flames shooting out of the garage and it took them a while to be able to get in there because of the boarding up.”
