Man killed in ambush at his Allapattah home identified
Police continued to look for the shooter who killed a 77-year-old man as he sat in his truck parked in the yard of his Allapattah home over the weekend.
Willy Warren was sitting inside the trunk of his open vehicle at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at his home, 3335 Northwest 13th Ave., when three men ambushed him, according to police.
Warren was taken to Ryder Trauma Center by Miami Fire Rescue, where he died during surgery.
Miami Sgt. Freddie Cruz said Monday that detectives believe the motive may have been robbery, but it was not clear what, if anything, was taken.
“It is a puzzle that we are still trying to piece together,” he said.
His family went to Miami police headquarters Tuesday to make a public appeal in finding the killer.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
