2 suspected of Aventura armed robbery arrested

Two men suspected of armed robbery at an Aventura Walgreens were arrested in the Highland Lakes neighborhood on Friday night.

After knocking down a woman and stealing her purse in the store’s parking lot, the duo fled in a stolen white Toyota only to hit some bad traffic.

“Aventura’s traffic didn’t help with their getaway plan,” said Aventura Police Capt. Michael Bentolila.

Police locked down the neighborhood for a few hours as authorities conducted a search. One suspect tried to fight off officers with scissors and a bottle before being arrested. The second suspect was also found and the area was cleared by 9 p.m.
