Driver in fatal Dania Beach hit-and-run arrested

The driver who killed a bicyclist Sunday morning in a hit-and-run on Dania Beach was arrested Tuesday morning, police said.

Carlos Miguel Lee, 26, struck Maurice White, 46, at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday. White was riding his bike eastbound on State Road 84 near Ravenswood Road when he was hit from behind. He died at the scene, police said.

A Hollywood resident who had seen a news account of the hit-and-run reported seeing a car in a neighbor’s backyard hidden with a blue car cover. The tip led police to a red 2015 Chevy Impala with damage and missing parts. Police got a search warrant and had the car towed. They found it had been rented by Lee.

Lee turned himself in at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Police are continuing to investigate.
