Car smashes into road ranger on Interstate 95, creating a massive traffic jam
An accident on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 involving a road ranger and a police officer Tuesday afternoon has made for a traffic nightmare out of downtown Miami.
Three left lanes near Northwest 95th Street were blocked for hours after a vehicle slammed into a road ranger, who stopped to help another driver.
The accident happened just after 2 p.m Tuesday.
According to Miami-Dade police, an officer had pulled over to help the road ranger when another car slammed into the road ranger's truck The truck then hit the officer's car. The officer was not injured.
The road ranger suffered head injuries. Robin Pinkard, a spokeswoman with Miami-Dade police, said the driver of the vehicle that hit the road ranger stayed on the scene.
It was not clear why the driver ran into the stopped cars.
