Dozens of colorful kites — including a 100-foot purple squid — filled the sky Sunday for the 24th annual Kitetoberfest kite festival at Haulover Beach Park.

The blue skies and breezy weather made for a perfect backdrop as hundreds of people flocked to the annual event hosted by Miami-Dade Parks and Skyward Kites.

Kite enthusiasts showed off their skills with demonstrations, while children were able to build paper kites and learned the ropes of kite flying.
