A 60-foot recreational boat broke anchor and struck the Seven Mile Bridge in Marathon early Saturday. No one was injured.

U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Eric Woodall said his agency received the report about 4 a.m. and a boat from Station Marathon arrived about 4:30. There were two people aboard the pleasure boat Quest Star.

Woodall said the two were sleeping and awoke when the boat started drifting.

"They had trouble getting the engine started," he said, so they called the Coast Guard. They were around mile marker 46 of U.S. 1, closer to Marathon than the Lower Keys.

The Quest Star was towed out and there was no damage to the sea bottom, Woodall said.
