Couple faces charges after heroin, children found in hotel room

A man and woman are facing charges including drug possession and child neglect after Monroe County detectives serving a search warrant inside a Marathon hotel room found cocaine, heroin, more than a dozen Xanax and two small children, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives from the department's Special Operation's Unit entered room 16 at the Blackfin Resort and Marina, 4650 Overseas Hwy., Wednesday and found Shayon Bryant and Jessica Frederick inside with two children.

They also found, according to the sheriff's office, approximately 11 grams of crack cocaine, 11 grams of heroin, five grams of marijuana, over a dozen Xanax pills, drug paraphernalia and more than $800 in cash.

Bryant, 42, of Key West, is now facing charges of cocaine possession with the intent to sell, heroin trafficking, possession of heroin with the intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, child neglect and a probation violation.

Frederick, 29, of Miami, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and child neglect.
