Coast Guard searching for missing Key West fisherman

Search-and-rescue crews are searching for a missing fisherman south of Key West, the Coast Guard said in a statement Wednesday.

Dennis Dallmeyer, 67, of Key West, was reported missing by a friend after Dallmeyer, who was aboard a 25-foot vessel fishing near Key West, didn’t return.

After the Coast Guard issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched a response boatcrew from Key West and an HC-144 aircraft from Miami, a commercial salvage vessel located Dallmeyer’s boat “eight nautical miles south of Key West with the keys in the ignition,” according to the Coast Guard statement.

The 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Alligator is assisting with the search.
