Big Pine Key man killed by hit-and-run driver
A Big Pine Key man died Saturday night in what the Florida Highway Patrol says was a hit and run on the Lower Keys island.
Scott Allen Foultz, 29, was sitting on the south edge of 1st Street around 11 p.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound struck Foultz with its right side, troopers said. The driver then left the scene.
Foultz was transported to Fishermen’s Community Hospital in Marathon, where he was pronounced dead. .
Officials said an inner fender liner cover from the vehicle was found at the scene. It has an overspray of burgundy/maroon paint and might be from a Dodge Caravan.
Troopers ask that anyone with information about the vehicle that struck him call 305-470-2500 and ask for Cpl. Fisher.
