A woman died in the hospital after being found unresponsive in the ocean while snorkeling off Key West Thursday afternoon, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said 44-year-old Jessica Murray died Thursday at Lower Keys Medical Center, but has not released any other information about the woman. Murray, from Key West, passed out in the water around 12:30 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

U.S. Coast Guard Station Key West received the initial report and sent out a 33-foot patrol boat crew to the sailboat from where Murray was snorkeling, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Jessica Walker, a spokeswoman for the agency.

The crew rushed her to a Key West marina, where paramedics were waiting, Walker said.

Detectives are waiting for autopsy results to determine the cause of death, but they do not suspect foul play, said sheriff’s office spokesman Adam Linhardt.
