Multi-vehicle crash near Key West shuts down northbound lanes of U.S 1

A multi-vehicle crash shut down the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 in Key West early Friday morning, forcing traffic onto College Road.

The crash occurred near Mile Marker 4 just outside Key West and was first reported around 7:10 a.m., according to FL511.

Emergency dispatch reports indicate the crash, which occurred near U.S. 1 and College Road on Stock Island, involved up to nine cars with injuries The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Key West Police Department are on the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. Traffic cameras show heavy back-ups in the area.
