Detectives arrested a man accused in a lottery ticket stealing scheme that netted him and a partner thousands of dollars in winnings, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The pair stole $15,000 in tickets from a Circle K gas station in Big Coppitt Key, which paid them out about $8,000, the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives last month arrested one of the men, 47-year-old Jorge Acevedo Perez, who lives on Big Coppitt, who faces grand theft and conspiracy charges.

Detectives are still looking for his alleged conspirator, 20-year-old Dave Dackens Pluviose, of Key West. Pluviose worked at the Circle K, and was filmed multiple times on the stores security camera handing Acevedo Perez large amounts of lottery tickets without charging him, said sheriff’s office spokesman Adam Linhardt.

Both men were filmed on security cameras at a supermarket cashing some of the tickets, Linhardt said.

It was unclear Monday if Acevedo Perez is still in jail, and information about his legal representation was not immediately available.

“The case is ongoing, and more charges may be pending,” Linhardt said.

Detectives are asking anyone who might have information about the case or Pluviose to call 305-292-7060 or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
