Diver dies in Keys; another rescued
A diver was killed and another was rescued on Monday after a search off Boca Chita in the Lower Keys, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The pair were diving when they lost sight of their boat and a 17-year-old on board. The teen called to report the two missing men at about 3:15 p.m. Monday.
Two hours later, Coast Guard crews found Michael Currie, 70, of Key West alive. He was returned to the boat.
Dive partner Roger Arrowood, 63, of North Carolina, was found shortly after face down in the water. He was taken to Lower Keys Hospital, where he died. No foul play is suspected, according to the sheriff’s office.
