A Key West woman died after her boat struck a channel marker, police say
A Key West woman was killed in a boat crash in the Lower Florida Keys, according to state fish and wildlife police investigating the accident.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission identified the woman as 46-year-old Misty Dawn Wildmon.
Wildmon was among seven people on board a 22-foot center console boat that struck a channel marker Friday while on the way back to a marina on Stock Island, according to police.
She was ejected from the boat when the boat hit the marker. The woman was removed from the water and taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Fish and wildlife police did not provide details of the crash, including what time it happened, if anyone else was injured and whether investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor.
According to a GoFundMe page set up for Wildmon’s family, she is survived by three children and a grandchild.
