A boater found packages off the Florida Keys. Contents were worth $260,000, cops say
More packages of drugs were found floating at sea off the Florida Keys over the weekend, according to the U.S. Border Patrol.
This time, a boater spotted 58 pounds of hashish off Key West on Saturday, said Adam Hoffner, division chief of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Miami operations.
Chief Patrol Agent Walter Slosar said in a statement that the total street value is about $260,000.
Over the summer, local and federal law enforcement reported several large shipments of drugs either being found floating offshore of the island chain or washing up on land in the Keys.
The loads included hashish, marijuana and cocaine.
