Five people were hospitalized when a boat flipped Saturday afternoon in the waters off the Florida Keys, according to local firefighters

The accident happened around 3 p.m. in Florida Bay off Key Largo. The boat had several people on board when for reasons not immediately known, it capsized, Key Largo Fire Department Chief Don Bock told the Miami Herald.

The type and size of the vessel was not immediately known. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the agency that typically investigates boat accidents, could not immediately be reached.

Monroe County’s Trauma Star helicopter ambulance flew one person to a mainland hospital, Bock said. Key Largo ambulance crews took two other people to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier in the Upper Keys, and two others were driven in personal vehicles to Mariners, Bock said.

Their conditions were not immediately known, but Bock said none of the injuries were life-threatening.
