Two crashes snarl Florida Keys rush hour traffic along U.S. 1
Two serious car crashes with injuries caused major rush hour traffic delays in the Florida Keys Tuesday evening.
Both crashes happened along U.S. 1 in the Middle Keys city of Marathon.
Exacerbating delays was police having to clear the highway around 5 p.m. so Monroe County’s helicopter ambulance could land to pick up at least one injured patient at mile marker 60.5, according to the sheriff’s office.
The other crash happened near the 1700 block of U.S. 1, less than a mile from the northern end of the Seven Mile Bridge, according to the sheriff’s office.
