Authorities on Sunday identified the body of a man found floating in a channel off Key West late last week.

The body of John Vincent Leonard, formerly of Lakeland, Florida, was spotted Friday afternoon by a civilian near Wisteria Island, a federally owned, uninhabited island northwest of Key West, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission transported the body to the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Key West.

Autopsy results are pending.

“The case remains under investigation and foul play isn’t expected to be a factor,” the sheriff’s office said.
