Four apartments were destroyed in a Key West building fire on Monday, according to the city’s administration.

The fire started around 11:20 a.m. at 7 Aronovitz Ln., a small street just off the 600 block of Duval Street, said Alyson Crean, the city’s spokeswoman.

Firefighters arrived to find the wood-built apartment building covered in flames, Crean said.

Key West police closed a block of Duval Street between Angela and Southard streets while firefighters worked two hours to put down the flames.

No one was hurt in the fire, but about 10 people were displaced, Crean said.

“The Florida State Fire Marshal is en route to investigate the cause of the fire,” she said.
