A personal watercraft hit a boat in the Keys, killing a man and sending others overboard
A Hialeah Gardens man died in the Florida Keys when his personal watercraft crashed into the side of a boat off Key Largo, according to state wildlife police investigating the accident.
Adolfo Ridriguez Aguilera, 40, was riding his Yamaha personal watercraft south on Blackwater Sound around 4:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, when it smacked into the left side of a 25-foot Skeeter center console boat.
The impact ejected Aguilera and the two occupants of the boat — Anthony Abate, 37, from Key Largo, and Marilynn Miriam Gonzalez, 28, from Pembroke Pines, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission accident report.
Abate and Gonzalez were not seriously injured, according to the report. Paramedics took Aguilera to Mariner’s Hospital in nearby Tavernier, where he was pronounced dead, the report states.
