A personal watercraft crash in the Florida Keys seriously injured one person Sunday morning, according to police.

The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. in Pine Channel, which separates Big Pine Key and Little Torch Key in the Lower Keys, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

County fire rescue medics flew one person by helicopter ambulance to a Miami-Dade County hospital to be treated for injuries from the crash, according to law enforcement sources.

Details of the crash were not immediately available.

Personal watercraft are tandem boats often referred to as Jet Skis, the name of a popular model manufactured by Kawasaki.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the crash.
