How did three bleeding men end up in the water in the Keys? They each had a story
Detectives in the Florida Keys are investigating a bizarre incident that happened Wednesday morning during which three intoxicated men were found bleeding in the water next to the docks of a local marina.
All three men had been been drinking the night before, and they all had different accounts about how they ended up in their respective battered states, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Two of the men — Andrew Curtis Gaynor, 55, and Michael Lance Prince, 49, were taken to a local hospital, and paramedics ended up taking Gaynor to a mainland hospital for further treatment. The third man, John Ralph Zens, 52, was also injured but declined medical treatment, Monroe sheriff’s office spokesman Adam Linhardt said.
Deputies found the men in the water near the docks at the end of 20th Street in the Middle Keys city of Marathon around 5:30 a.m. Just off the docks is Boot Key Harbor, a mooring field where many people live on boats.
Detectives continued investigating the incident Wednesday afternoon, but no arrests had been made by then, Linhardt said.
