Florida City woman hit and killed by a truck in the Keys

A 54-year-old woman from Florida City was killed around 7 a.m. Saturday after being struck by a tractor-trailer at mile marker 82 in Islamorada while crossing U.S. 1, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

She had just gotten off a bus and was crossing both the southbound and northbound lanes when she was hit, police said.

The woman wasn’t named in the FHP report.

“There was heavy rain in the area,” the report states.

She was first struck by the tractor-trailer and then by a sedan, the FHP said.

The agency is investigating and “charges are pending,” according to the report.
