One dead in crash between dump truck and SUV in Florida Keys
The driver of a sport utility vehicle died Tuesday afternoon in a crash with a dump truck in the Florida Keys.
The crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. around mile marker 80 on U.S. 1 in Islamorada, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office alert.
Police have not released the identity of the driver. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
While medics, sheriff’s office deputies and FHP troopers worked to clear the scene, both northbound and southbound traffic on U.S. 1 was diverted to the Old Highway, which runs parallel to U.S. 1 in the Upper Keys.
