Former Keys man arrested after threatening Monroe County sheriff via email, cops say
A former Key West man faces charges in Monroe County after deputies said he threatened deputies.
Lowell Wayne Davis III, 29, was arrested Tuesday in Volusia County on a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office warrant. Monroe Sheriff Rick Ramsay received a threatening email from him on Saturday, according to the sheriff’s office, and the Special Operations Unit investigated.
He was arrested by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of making written threats to do bodily injury. He will face the charges in the Keys.
“Most importantly learn how to run that little cupcake camp you guys like to call county jail,” read the email to Ramsay. “Yeah fix that dump of a place.. and learn how to treat inmates. Before we start taxing yall piece of s--- cops to even move around our city. The conchs will rise up and start f---ing yall up. We all have weapons. And I’m puttin the word out. Shoot first ask questions later.”
“If you threaten anyone in this community, the Sheriff’s Office will find you and we will arrest you,” Ramsay said.
Davis will also face drug-related charges in Volusia County. He had seven small plastic bags of heroin, hypodermic needles and two Suboxone strips when he was arrested, according to the Monroe sheriff’s office.
Davis was booked into Volusia County jail on a $50,000 bail.
