Three divers found safe after major search off the Florida Keys

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission found three people alive who disappeared while diving off the Florida Keys on Wednesday afternoon.

The people were free diving about four miles off the Middle Keys city of Key Colony Beach, said Officer Bobby Dube, spokesman for the FWC in Monroe County.

They were found off Vaca Cut off Marathon around 3 p.m.

“Everyone is OK,” Dube said.

Participating in the search were boats and aircraft from the FWC and Coast Guard.

The driver of the recreational vessel they were diving from reported them missing around 2 p.m.
