He was parked along a bridge during the coronavirus crisis. That led to more trouble

A Florida Keys man has been arrested on several felony heroin charges. Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say Rory Robles, 40, was parked in his SUV on the side of Tom’s Harbor Bridge on Duck Key shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday.

Parking on bridges is not allowed because of the coronavirus state of emergency.

Deputy William Daniels wrote in his report that when he asked what he was doing on the bridge, Robles responded that he had just left Marathon and needed to go to the bathroom before driving to Tavernier, about 30 miles north of Duck Key.

When running Robles’ license plate, Daniels discovered it had been removed from another car and attached to Roble’s SUV, which is a misdemeanor.

Williams cuffed Robles, and he and another deputy searched his car. Inside, they found a small plastic bag and a box that contained a total of almost 16 grams of heroin and gear used to smoke and snort the drug, according to Williams’ report.

As of Monday afternoon, Robles was being held in county jail on Stock Island on a bond of $51,000 on felony charges of heroin possession with intent to sell, possession of more than 10 grams of heroin and heroin trafficking.

He also faces misdemeanor drug equipment possession and removing a license plate from one car and attaching it to another.
